On Remembrance Sunday, 14 November 2021,after our service, parade and refreshments, our President of RBLS Crieff Branch Mr Peter McFarlane, Chairman Mr Robbie Geddie and Club Steward Mr Jim Todd received a £1,000 cheque from Mr Duncan Mackenzie, Mr David Mackenzie and Mr Robin Dove who are all ex-service veterans and part of the Pink Mackenzies team.
Pink Mackenzies was set up by Duncan’s daughter Laura who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007, aged just 23. It was set up to raise awareness of the disease and to raise money for The Roy Castle Foundation. Laura sadly passed away in 2008 and since then many charity events have taken place to continue raising money for various charities, the most recent of these events was the Veterans Banger Rally.
Duncan recently approached our Branch Club Steward and explained that they had raised a significant amount of money and wanted four different charities to benefit, The Roy Castle Foundation. Captain Tom Foundation, Maggies and The Royal British Legion. As he now lives locally, Duncan wanted the local branch of RBLS to be the beneficiary.
We at the RBLS Crieff Branch are extremely grateful for this fantastic donation and it will be of great use to benefit our branch.
Our thanks go to all the team at the Pink Mackenzies and we wish them continued success in all their future charitable events.
